THE SIMPSONS MOVIE

In Film, General on April 6, 2006 at 1:20 am

Its been talked about for years, in discussions for ages…"The Simpsons Movie" is finally being set for a July 27, 2007 release. 20th Century Fox snuck copies of a 25-second teaser trailer in front of "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown" this past weekend and also showed it during commercials on last night's "Simpsons" episode. The promo spot advertises the movie for a release next year. USA Today reveals that the movie will most likely be rated PG-13 for language "coarser" than TV. Albert Brooks, Minnie Driver and the real-life Erin Brockovich have also been announced as guest stars. The plot still remains to be a secret but it's been revealed that nearly all the Simpsons characters will make an appearance. Al Jean, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, Matt Selman, John wartzwelder, Mike Scully,  James Brooks and Jon Vitti are penning the screenplay. David Silverman, series co-producer and animation director, will be directing the feature.

WEEKEND RELEASE OF ATL’ FILM RAISES SECURITY

In Film, General, Music on March 30, 2006 at 9:37 pm

By RICHARD L. ELDREDGE of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Could a coming-of-age film set at a Southside Atlanta skating rink translate into overtime for mall cops next weekend? That was the not-so-subtle implication of a memo about the upcoming movie "ATL" that was e-mailed this week to seven shopping centers: Perimeter, Cumberland, Discover Mills, NorthPoint, Oglethorpe, Southlake and Augusta malls. In the memo, Valor Security Service Perimeter Mall security director W. Mark Crowell warns: "On March 31, the movie ‘ATL’ will be released in theaters. A theater manager at one of our properties has alerted the mall team that this movie could cause potential behavior problems. The movie trailer indicates that themes in the movie include moral choices and narcotics trafficking … Please appropriately prepare your security staffs for the release of this movie." Valor provides security for the seven malls. Read the rest of this entry »

CHARLIE SHEEN QUESTIONS 9/11 EVENTS

In Film, General, Politics on March 23, 2006 at 10:22 pm

Charlie Sheen has accused the US government of covering up the real events of September 11. The heartthrob actor has revealed he doesn’t believe the official account of the atrocity in 2001. He told GGN Radio Network’s ‘The Alex Jones Show’: “It seems to me like 19 amateurs with box-cutters taking over four commercial airliners and hitting 75 per cent of their targets feels like a conspiracy theory. It raises a lot of questions.” The actor also said he was suspicious about the cause of the Twin Towers collapse, saying it looked like a “controlled demolition”. The ‘Two and a Half Men’ star – who has two children with estranged wife Denise Richards – also reportedly questioned the way a plane managed to hit the Pentagon. Sheen thinks the public need to uncover the real version of events for the sake of the victims and those who lost their loved ones. He said: “It is up to us to reveal the truth. It is up to us because we owe it to the families, we owe it to the victims, we owe it to everyone’s life that was drastically altered, horrifically, that day and forever. “We owe it to them to uncover what happened.”

MUHAMMED ALI’S 12TH ANNUAL CELEBRITY FIGHT NIGHT BENEFIT

In Film, General, Sports on March 21, 2006 at 7:05 pm

Muhammad Ali gave the lunatics the keys to the asylum last weekend when he invited Robin Williams and Jim Carrey to his 12th annual Celebrity Fight Night benefit. Both of them came to Phoenix to help the champ battle Parkinson’s disease. Accepting an award from the boxing legend, Williams wasted no time plopping himself on Ali’s lap and talking to him like he was Santa. “For those of you who are here to support Parkinson’s research,” said the comic, “I just want to remind you to keep lobbying: Third-generation stem cells are like using beef jerky for a skin transplant.” Williams also paid tribute to the late expletive-spewing comic Richard Pryor, The News’ Kasia Anderson reports. “I’d like to propose that, just like they retire jerseys in the NBA, we retire term ‘Mother-[bleeper]!’” Carrey noted that he and Ali share a birthday, then went searching for God. “I was born into the world with my arms like this, going, ‘God, I have a big funnel here — and I’m ready for all the gifts of the universe — for every blessing and bountiful goodness you have — bring it on! … It was hard on my mother! The doctor took a look and said, ‘Ah yes, he’s gotten ahold of an existential funnel. We’ll have to do a C-section!’” The wackiness may have infected Ali, who took to sneaking up behind his celeb guests during photo ops and making Devil horns. But clearly, he’s still on the side of the angels: The event raised $6 million. SOURCE

“I’m gonna put a bullet in his f&%$in’ mummy head. I promise.”

Last Night’s episode of The sopranos “Join the club” was one of those freaky weird episodes. Tony wakes up in a hotel, heads out to the bar for a drink, loses his briefcase and wallet and cannot go back home but this all happening while he is in a coma. A group of business travelers heard about his dilemma and invited him to join them for dinner, in between their conversation Tony makes a statement that still has me thinking. “I’m 46 years old. I mean who am I? Where am I going?“. Tony lays in bed on a ventilator and the gun shot wound damaged his internal organs. There was a scene towards the end of the episode where Camerla is talking to Tony, asking him if he’s listening. It switches back to Tony in the Hotel room, staring at the phone but cant call home and there is a white light at the end of the city skyline. Weird.

SIDNEY LUMENT’S “FIND ME GUILTY”

In Film, General on March 17, 2006 at 8:22 pm

Not everybody’s applauding Sidney Lumet’s “Find Me Guilty,” a courtroom drama about a real-life criminal trial in which Vin Diesel stars as Mafia wiseguy Jackie DiNorscio. But New Jersey resident Roe Guido, a 39-year-old mother of four, is a huge fan. She’s the daughter of DiNorscio, who successfully defended himself in the 21-month-long trial. “Vin did a great job, and I didn’t think he’d be able to do something like that, because I thought he was just an action hero,” Guido told me yesterday. “But nobody could have played my father better.”

Guido, whose father died of cancer in November 2004 at age 62 after spending more than half his life in prison, has been showering Diesel with praise since Monday’s New Jersey screening for friends, family and some of her dad’s running buddies who aren’t legally permitted to leave the state. “I just sent him a text message telling him that he made me and my father’s dreams come true. He was just impeccable.” SOURCE

MANDELA REVEALS PAST AS A PIG THIEF

In Film, General, Politics on March 17, 2006 at 8:17 pm

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa- Former South African President Nelson Mandela admitted youthful sins during a visit with the makers of the Oscar-winning film “Tsotsi.” Mandela said he identified with the main character of the film, a young gangster. As a teenager in South Africa’s rural Transkei region, Mandela herded livestock. He and friends would use the dregs of locally brewed beer to lure pigs from the village, the BBC reported. Once they were far away, the boys would stab, roast and eat the pigs, he said. “Some of the leaders of this country and elsewhere in the world started with misdemeanors of all kinds, but as they grew up, they became responsible people who have served our country very well,” Mandela said. Mandela thanked the makers of “Tsotsi” for putting South Africa “on the map,” but film director Gavin Hood responded that it was Mandela himself who had done this. “Without what you did, we would not have been able to make this film together as South Africans in a free country,” Hood said.

This is what the release says: ‘Los Angeles — Actor Will Ferrell accidentally died in a freak para-gliding accident yesterday in Torey Pines, Southern California. The accident apparently happened somewhere near the famed paragliding site after a freak wind gush basically blew Ferrell and his companion towards a wooded area where they lost control before crashing into the dense foilage. GEORGE HAS SOME TWO WORDS FOR GUTLESS DEMS

In Film, General, Politics on March 13, 2006 at 6:45 pm

George Clooney has a message for Democratic office-holders who voted for the war in Iraq, only to claim later that they’d been misled by President Bush:”F–k you!”. The movie star’s argument — directed at the likes of presidential wannabes Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Kerry and John Edwards. Edwards is the only Senator thus far saying that voting for the war was a big mistake. “The fear of being criticized can be paralyzing,” Clooney writes today on Huffingtonpost.com — “Just look at the way so many Democrats caved in the runup to the war. In 2003, a lot of us were saying, where is the link between Saddam and Bin Laden? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? We knew it was bulls—.
“Which is why it drives me crazy to hear all these Democrats saying, ‘We were misled.’ It makes me want to shout, ‘F— you, you weren’t misled. You were afraid of being called unpatriotic.’”Clooney exhorts the lily-livered Dems to stop being cowards and put some steel in their spines.”It’s not merely our right to question our government, it’s our duty. Whatever the consequences,” he lectures.”We can’t demand freedom of speech, then turn around and say, ‘But please don’t say bad things about us.’ You gotta be a grownup and take your hits.”

“I got the call of congratulations from President Thabo Mbeki’s office,” the 42-year-old Hood told me yesterday. “It’s a bit overwhelming. We’re going to have a welcome-home event through Joberg and the shanty towns, with a big celebration at the Market Theater in New Town. It’s as though we’ve just won the World Cup.”

One of my appreciation for Jack Johnson and adoration and other words that begin with the letter “a” that mean good stuff, is the fact that he was a true fighter. I mean I watched the title fight against Jess Willard, and they stated that it was 105 degrees and he fought to the 26th Round. 26th round!! It was rumored that Johnson allowed himself to be knocked out because of his marriages to white women, against the law at the time, and his flamboyant lifestyle that the White man could not stand. He later on became a connoisseur of Harlem night life, eventually opened his own supper club, Club Deluxe, at 142nd Street and Lenox Avenue which was later turned into the Cotton Club. BRUCE WILLIS BLASTS OPRAH OVER JAMES FREY

In Film, General on February 15, 2006 at 5:44 pm

Bruce Willis has a few fighting words for Oprah over James Frey and even the tabloid magazines.

“Hey, Oprah,” Willis continues.

“You had President Clinton on your show, and if this [bleep] didn’t lie about a couple of things, I’m going to set myself on fire right now. James Frey is a writer, OK? He can write whatever he wants. It’s fiction, and it’s just hard, it’s just shameful how he was treated in some of these things.”

Willis says Justin Timberlake “was asked to play James Frey in the making of that book, and he waited and waited and listened to everyone and he said – ‘Have you heard of this magazine called In Touch magazine or Us Weekly or InStyle or People or any of these magazines? They lie about people and they just make up [bleep] all week long, and you have to sue them to get it changed.’

“This is the world that we live in. That’s approved and people go, ‘That’s OK,’ and people go, ‘Ooooo, someone is [bleeping] this person over here. Someone did this over here.’ And they’re all lies and no one is yelling at them. So let’s leave James Frey alone.”

Without pausing for breath, Willis turned on Entertainment Weekly, which recently wrote that “Die Hard IV” was one sequel they “didn’t want to see.”

EW “hates me,” he fumed. “They’ve hated me since they’ve been a magazine. F – - – them. And you can go tell them that.”

SPIKE LEE VS. GANGSTA RAP

Spike Lee is a man known in Hollywood with many slashes -director/actor/writer/producer/outspoken social critic. On Wednesday night, the 48-year-old Lee retained the latter crown, poking fun at Florida Gov.
